In this course, students will be introduced to a wide range of careers that may include pediatrics, family medicine, OB-GYN, nursing, plastic surgery, emergency medicine, dentistry, and research. Through a combination of in-class lectures, presentations, and discussions, students actively apply their learning and become armed with the information they need to make informed decisions about career options in medicine and health science. They will understand the level of coursework required for different specialties and the necessary steps it will take to cross the finish line (and potentially get those special letters after their names). Class topics will focus on current hot topics including medical ethics, health disparities, biomedical research, epidemics, health care costs, cancer research, genetic engineering, and health care reform.
