Learn about the traditional three-act structure and develop a deeper understanding of how a script is crafted, created and assembled. Understand the history of films and how they have influenced various cultural communities and society as a whole. Professionally written successful (and unsuccessful) scripts will be dissected. Have your work critiqued by, and brainstorm with professional Hollywood producers, screenwriters, and fellow students as you create a screenplay draft by the end of the session. Workshop sessions will focus on the elements of writing scripts that film and/or television studios will love. The program is coordinated by a former writer for the Walt Disney Co., a graduate of the UCLA School for Theater, Film & Television, and author of 2 screenplays currently under development with major Hollywood Studios. Field trips to film and television studios and in-class screenings are an integral part of the program. Please note some R rated films will be shown.
