Course Description
This course is designed for high school athletes or those currently in a resistance training program. Using a variety of exercises, equipment, facilities, and training modalities, students will learn and practice safe (and correct) strength training and conditioning techniques. They will learn the proper technique when using six fundamental movements of strength training including the hinge, squat, horizontal pull, horizontal push, vertical pull, and vertical push; identify and define basic anaerobic conditioning to work on running mechanics and change of direction; and discuss proper safety while training. Lectures will focus on components of exercise, proper safety, nutrition, sports injuries and the place of sports and fitness in society.
