Epidemics, or the rapid spread of infectious diseases, have been a major concern for humanity throughout history. Explore the science of epidemiology and learn the power of this fascinating discipline to protect us against future disease outbreaks.
Course Description
In this course you'll learn about topics such as the history of epidemics and the key players in the field of epidemiology, as well as the different types of epidemics, how they spread, and the methods used to control them. Students will conduct simulations of disease outbreaks, analyze case studies, and use mathematical models to predict the spread of disease. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to think critically about the ethical considerations involved in controlling epidemics. They will also learn about the impact of epidemics on different communities and the role of public health organizations in responding to outbreaks.
